We've had an exciting five weeks. Many wonderful pups/dogs and handlers participated in classes that bring out the best in us and our dogs. It's now time to show off our skills and get the first leg of CGC and Trick Dog under our collars.

The evaluation items needed to pass the AKC CGC test have been taught in the Family Manners Class. But remember, PenDog would like to invite the public as well to participate in the evaluations. We are here to help you reach your goals.

We'll have CGC and Trick Dog evaluators available to administer the evaluation in order to achieve your first titles.

No worries if you didn't participate in the classes these past few weeks. If you've taken a previous course or have been working on your own with your pup, our evaluators are here to help you.

Dogs that currently have a CGC Title would only need to pass five tricks to earn the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title. If your dog is ready, you may also be able to get both your CGC and Trick Dog Titles on the same day.

CGC Evaluation will include the following and more: heeling through obstacles and people, properly greeting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for grooming, sit and remain in place, come when called from a distance, heel on a slack leash with distractions. DESCRIPTION:
The AKC Canine Good Citizen Program is designed to recognize dogs who display good manners at home and in the community. CGC certification is recognized as a high standard of dog behavior and is an excellent way to prepare for therapy dog training. The program also provides an excellent foundation for training in other fun activities such as rally, service, showing, and agility, and results in a well-mannered dog who is a joy to live with.
