DESCRIPTION
Rally is a team sport, you and your dog navigate a course, side-by-side, as you steer him through a course of 10-20 different signs. Each sign provides instructions regarding the skill that is to be performed. You and your dog move continuously throughout the course with your dog under control at your left side, moving about as a team. Although each performance is timed, having a good race time is not the goal; it’s all about working as a team while performing the skills, with the dog under control.
Rally events allow you to show off your dog’s talents as well as the teamwork that has blossomed between the two of you.
AKC Rally started in 2005 as a family fun sport and participation increases each year. All dogs are welcome to participate, whether purebred or mixed breed. It’s a perfect starting point for those who are new to canine sports, as Rally provides a challenging introduction to all Companion Events for dogs and handlers to strengthen their skills.

REQUIREMENTS
Dogs must have some basic obedience skills, be mannerly around other dogs and people, and be under control at all times prior to the owner signing up for the class, or have instructor permission. All dogs must be current on vaccinations. Your dog must be healthy and in good physical condition as any dog sport can be physically demanding, especially for the dog.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring your dog (of course!), shot records, soft chewy treats in a side pouch or front pouch (hoodie type sweaters work well), 6ft leash (non-retractable), and a flat-buckle, or martingale collars only.
